Where is the Delivery Area?

Currently beachgreens is delivering within the greater Long Beach area, including Lakewood, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, and Surfside and Sunset Beach.

When is it Delivered?

Your box will be delivered on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, depending upon your zip code. We leave it at the doorstep of your house or apartment, or another location, according to your instruction. The box will be waiting for you when you get home. Deliveries are available on a weekly, every other week, or monthly basis.

Our route schedules make it difficult to control the time of day your box will be delivered, but we do our best to accommodate requests if at all possible. We may not be able to fulfill requests for a different delivery time.

What is in a Box?

Here is a sample of items you might find in a beachgreens box in each season.

December - March

Hard winter squashes, persimmons, and apples continue. Kiwi is a possibility, and California citrus comes to life this time of year! Seedless Satsuma Tangerines arrive by the bucketful, and sweet Navel Oranges are a welcome addition. Mysterious root vegetables start making their way into the boxes too-- Celery root, beets, carrots, turnips, and yams. Dark leafy greens are abundant as well as broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts and cabbage. We will also start to see snap peas around February or March.

March - June

Nothing says spring like the sweet taste of an organically grown California strawberry. Storages of winter squashes and apples are dwindling down, and it’s time for greens--sugar Snap Peas, Snow Peas, English Peas, lettuce, artichokes, and Asparagus! More items you might find in your box include scallions, parsnips, fennel, radish, avocados and baby zucchini. We’ll see the start of the Southern California blueberry season as well.

June - September

Stone fruit is the star of summer, starting with apricots and cherries, sustained through the summer with peaches and nectarines, and ending with plums in the fall. Your box is packed full of fruits and veggies ideal for summer grilling, picnics, and potlucks. Early summer tomatoes and newly dug potatoes soon give way to peppers, corn, grapes, cucumbers, and eggplant. Sweet Valencia oranges continue. Hardier greens such as arugula can be included. Melons are also delicious this time of year!

October - December

This is the beginning of winter squashes and persimmons. Apples are in full swing. Grapes and melons are sweet and delicious. Stone fruit (peach, nectarine) is wrapping up, but there may still be plums, if we’re lucky. In the beginning of October and November, your box is packed full of fruits and veggies associated with summer, such as tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers, and green beans. By Thanksgiving, we’ve mostly said good-bye to these summer goodies and welcomed other items you might find in your box this time of year is assorted greens, leeks, chard, potatoes, avocados, Valencia oranges, Red Ruby Grapefruit, and Asian Pears.

What Choices Do We Offer?

We allow you to choose the produce you prefer in your box based on proportions.

This option is available only for the Studio and Original Size boxes. The Family Size box is automatically 50% vegetables, 50% fruit.

Choices are:

  • All Vegetables
  • All Fruit
  • More Vegetables than Fruit
  • More Fruit than Vegetables
  • 50/50 Vegetables and Fruit

You have the opportunity to fill out this preference when you sign up, and it can be changed at any time, so long as any changes are made before 8am on Tuesday the week of delivery.

Dislikes

The assortment of fruits and vegetables in a delivery is determined for you by seasonal availability, and we do our best to maximize variety. We do not want to send you anything you are allergic to or know you will absolutely never touch! Please be sure to fill out the ‘Dislikes’ section of the sign-up form.

How Much Does it Cost?

Your delivery will include an assortment of seasonal and sustainably and/or organically grown fruits and vegetables, fresh from local California Farmers.

We offer 3 different box sizes:

The Studio box costs $29.99 per delivery, and includes between 8 and 10 items. This box could be for customers whose busy schedules don't always allow them to cook at home, but like having the option of fresh food on hand!

The Original box costs $44.99 per delivery, and includes between 12-14 items. This provides enough food for many of our customers with 2 people in the household.

The Family Box costs $64.99 per delivery, and includes between 24-30 items. Perfect for those who are really getting their daily requirements of vegetables and fruits, or for vegetarians! Please note: This box is available only in the 50% vegetable/50% fruit option.

Note: An example of an “item” can be 1 bunch of chard, 1 pound of peaches, or 1 avocado. Box contents depend upon seasonal availability and price. We do our best to maximize variety.

$50 Box Deposit In addition to the delivery cost, we charge a one-time fully refundable $50 box deposit. This deposit will be charged to your credit card, regardless of the method of payment for weekly deliveries. Your deliveries will arrive in a clean sturdy crate, which is made from 100% recycled plastic. (www.rentagreenbox.com) We ask that every week you leave your empty crate for us; we will collect it for reuse.

If you collect more than 3 crates, we will give you a courtesy email as a reminder to leave your crates for us on the next scheduled delivery day. Reusing these crates helps us to reduce our environmental footprint as a company, and helps keep everyone’s costs down.

If at any point the customer decides to discontinue service, we come by and pick up the empty crate(s). The $50 deposit is returned via credit card when we have all boxes in our possession.

Add-Ons

In addition to receiving your recurring delivery, customers have a chance every week to order Add-On items. Herbs are an Add-on, as are locally canned jams and jellies, locally roasted coffee, granola, as well as some items that are delicious, but for cost reasons, we are unable to include in the boxes (Shiitake mushrooms, for example).

Small amounts of Add-On Items are available only in addition to your regular delivery. However, we also offer volume discounts for large orders. So, if you are canning, teaching a cooking class, or throwing a party, be sure to get in touch with us so we can get you what you need! You will receive information on how to make Add-on orders when you sign up for deliveries.

How Do I Pay?

We ask you to file a credit or debit card number with us to create an account.

Payment:

  • Sign up to receive weekly, every other week, or monthly deliveries that will be charged to your credit card the same week of your delivery.

If at any time you wish to cancel service, you must contact us via email or phone by 8am on Tuesday, the week of your scheduled delivery.

Ongoing Service and Account Changes

It’s easy to sign-up to receive beachgreens deliveries! To do so, click here.

Sign up online by 8am on Tuesday the week you wish to begin, and you will receive a delivery that week. If you sign-up after 8am on Tuesday, your request will AUTOMATICALLY be processed for the next week, and you will receive your delivery the next week.

You have the option to ‘postpone’ your account, if you do not wish to receive a delivery that week. This must be done by Tuesday 8am the week of scheduled delivery. Do this by simply logging into your account, and choosing the next date you would like to receive a delivery.

You may also change your account options by logging into your account, clicking ‘View Profile’ and then ‘Edit Profile’. Any changes must be made by Tuesday 8am to go into effect that week.

If you DO NOT cancel your account, or postpone the delivery for that week by Tuesday at 8am, the service will automatically continue, and you will be charged.
